Book Review: This book is one of my all-time favorites! It's great for all ages. My two and four-year-old both loved it. It's fun and heart warming. They also did an great job on the 2006 live action movie.

Masks
Print out the pig (Wilber) mask from the link above. Have your kids color or paint them. Cut  it out and attach ribbon or string for the tie. For the Templeton mask I pulled out some leftover party hats. I cut a round notch for the nose area. Then we covered it with brown construction paper and secured with tape. I then poked some pipe cleaners in the side for the whiskers and glued on a piece of foam that I had in my crafts. A pom pom would also be cute for the nose. No need to put a tie on this one, just use the elastic the hat came with.

Webs
Cut a large square out of butcher paper. Fold it into triangles and have your kids help cut out huge spiderwebs (like snowflakes).  Then print out the famous spider writings (Some Pig, Humble, Radiant, Terrific) and glue them into the center of the web. Hang on the walls.






Food

Breadsticks
For the breadstick web, make one recipe of breadsticks (see recipe below). Roll out dough and cut into long strips with a pizza cutter. Then twist each strip and lay on a baking pan, making a starburst pattern. Then, twist long strips of dough and starting from the center, make circles and pinch on the end. Make two additional circles, getting larger as you go out. Brush entire "web" with garlic butter (melted butter, garlic powder, italian seasoning and parmesan cheese). 

Spider brownies

To make the spiders, bake brownies according to package directions.  Don't over bake or they will be hard to roll into balls.  When brownies are cool, using a small cookie scoop, scoop up balls of brownies. Cut licorice ropes into even pieces. place four licorice ropes on waxed paper. Melt chocolate candy coating as indicated on package. With a fork or skewer, dip brownies into chocolate, let excess drip off, then place on top of licorice rope "legs". Have the kids decorate with chocolate sprinkles and m&m eyes while the chocolate is still wet. Let dry.

This party was super fun and EASY! We also put out a picnic blanket on the living room floor and let the kids eat popcorn and cotton candy while they watched the movie.  Have fun and let me know how it goes!

No Fail Breadsticks

1 T yeast
1 1/2 C warm water
2 T sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 C flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar and salt. Add flour. Knead 3 minutes, adding additional flour until the dough is managable. Roll out and cut in 12 inch strips. Dip in butter, twist and lay on cookie sheet. Sprinkle with garlic powder and parmesan cheese. Let rise 30 minutes. Bake at 375 for 15-20 min.
